HASTINGS — Emma Zakarevicius grew up in Australia where her Lithuanian grandmother, who was legally blind, would record herself singing and talking and send the cassettes to family members, instead of writing letters.
“I just always felt such a kindred spirit to her because she was so humble and so beautiful and giving, and she loved me so much,” said Zakarevicius, who relocated to Hastings last summer after three years in Irvington.
Now, 10 years after moving to New York, Zakarevicius, known as the singer EmZ, is emulating her grandmother with her debut solo album “Postcards.” She describes the album as letters to the ones she loves.
